We just got back from vacation and it was pretty swell. It was relaxing and fun and I have quite a sunburn. Apparently pregnancy makes your skin more sensitive to the sun and I did not use sunblock except for on my face. So I am TOASTY!
Now my husband got me a sewing machine for Christmas and I have been pinning and making a collection of all the different things I want to sew.
Then I got pregnant and with pregnancy came sickness, so for quite some time I didn’t do much but lay on the couch. THEN it was time for vacation and I need clothes. I got some great finds at goodwill for maternity wear but I decided that I was going to make a maxi dress to wear on vacation!
We were leaving on Friday and so TUESDAY I decided to get sewing 🙂
I had already purchased a book from Amazon…
I had purchased the fabric on Monday…Memorial Day Clearances are awesome!
Now I needed to open the box…
My first day/night of sewing involved me opening the box, making room on our dining room/kitchen table, reading the manual, looking up you tube videos and practice sewing stitches on paper and on an old t-shirt.
I was up until 1am just trying to figure out how to thread the darn the machine. Its quite easy once you understand the language of the manual. Once I successfully made a stitch with ACTUAL thread I decided it was time for bed.
I figured it was a long shot that I would have a maxi dress by the time we left for vacation on Friday, but that did not stop me from trying.
Now its time for Day Two in my Adventures in Sewing.
