Here is where I really struggled. What is a Brownie Quest? What is a Brownie Journey? I think the confusion for me was the use of the word “Quest”. Its too interchangable with the word “Journey”!
But Basically, There are 3 Journeys which I explain here. And the “Brownie Quest” is one of the 3 Journeys that Brownies go along to earn the Journey badges.
Here is something you can use to keep track of your troops Journey activities. The Brownie Quest book is helpful as a guide to go on the Journey. Pinterest is also super helpful.
For the first Key, I rolled out a large sheet of paper from our easel. Poster board will work too. I had the girls make collages from magazines that reflect what interests them or describes them. We placed the collages on our rolled out sheet of paper. I had the girls fill out the star on page 49. (I scanned the page and printed one out for each girl.) They cut out the star and we hole punched it and tied it to the bottom of our post with yarn. Then I had them fill out a family crest. The girls filled out their family info and chose the best Girl Scout Law that is important to their family. The girls also colored and pasted 3 of their favorite Girl Scout Laws and pasted it to the board.
Journey Badges are a lot of work! That was all for the first key/badge titled the “Discovery Key”
These activities can also be counted towards the Girl Scout Way badge and the My Family Story badge.
For the second badge, the “Connect Key”, we did 3 activities. We made our “Team Promise”. You can use this Printable that I created. We wrote on each line what we promise as a team and signed our names in the box.We discussed the “Circles of Caring” on page 60 of the Brownie Quest journey book. We just hand drew the circles on a blank sheet of paper and filled out our circle. We went over the community image on page 81.
We then made a “Healthy Family Fun Jar” which was inspired by page 59. The girls wrote down about 10 different healthy family fun ideas on 10 or so pieces of paper. They then decorated their jars (about spaghetti jar sized) with streamer paper and glue sticks. They were really into this activity and it was really easy.
We discussed what we are going to do for our final key for the next week.
For our 3rd and final badge, the “Take Action Key”. We collected food for a local food pantry.
The Brownies then presented their poster to our Daisies that our in our troop too. We said a chant together:
“The Discover Key, It’s all about me; What I believe, And my family.”
“The Connecting Key, We connect as a troop and help lead our families.”
“The Take Action Key, We help the hungry in our community and donate to a food pantry”
“We have unlocked the Brownie Quest!”I hope you found this helpful! Feel free to comment below with any suggestions or question. I will be posting our Brownie activities we did and resources I have made so subscribe to stay tuned!
