It really looks like they aren’t going to let me go with an awesome wonderful package.
Something needs to change. This isn’t going to work.
I nervously go to my boss and I sit down and he seems prepared for what I am going to say.
But I throw a curveball and ask him if there is anyway I can work from home part-time or full-time or switch my hours to part-time or evening.
He seems pleased and VERY supportive.
He told me that he will go to HR and ask.
The next day he gets back to me and tells me that HR would like me to put my request into writing and to have examples of how it would work along with alternatives in case I cant get exactly what I want.
So I go to my desk and I come up with a BEAUTIFUL document. Its several pages with different options and scenarios and addresses any reasons why it wouldn’t work and how I can make it work.
HR is impressed and is for it.
GREAT! My boss is for it, HR is for it. Whats the problem.
HR says its going to be a hard sell to the CEO. He is not fan of telecommuting.
HR says they will get back to me in a week.
So now I wait.
Ah Waiting. Always Waiting.
A few days later I get a meeting request for the end of the week. This is good. They probably want to set up some SOPs and guidelines.
This is going to be very good.
