Sometimes I find it kinda hard to share what I feel like God is doing in my life. Mostly because it doesn’t feel complete yet. But its never going to be complete is it? I also feel a little intimidated to share because I’m afraid of what people will think. Which is funny because I have no problem sharing an ugly picture or embarrassing story but if its more on the spiritual side I have a fear that people will think that I THINK I’m uber-HOLY, which I am not.
That past couple of years I have been participating in our church’s Women’s Bible Study. I have learned sooo much and think I have changed at least a little bit with each one.
One thing that has kept me talking too much about this is something Beth Moore said in “Sacred Secrets”
“Eat it before you tweet it.” Meaning, before you share what you think you just heard God say to you, think about it for little while before sharing. I think she said that phrase four or five times in a row. We laughed as we watched the video, but it stuck. I guess she knows what she is doing :).
After Sacred Secrets we did Priscilla Shirer’s study of Gideon. Her workbook wanted us to go on Twitter and hash-tag what we felt we learned. I’m pretty sure the ladies didn’t mean to conflict with each other even though they are under the same umbrella (Lifeway), considering they were published in different years. Either way, I didn’t tweet any of my Bible study findings.
We are now currently reading The Circle Maker and following along with the video and I LOVE IT! I cant get enough of it. I’m VERY excited to see some things to come.
All of that to say that through these Bible studies I have come to appreciate the power of praying Scripture. I have a few posted in the kitchen above the sink. (That seems to be where I spend a lot of time, with nothing to look at.)
The Gideon Bible study touched on believing the authority in Christ we have. I have a hard time believing and accepting and acting as though I have any authority, so I thought that it would help me to see who the Bible says I am.
I found this from TheBible.org.
That’s some good stuff.
I made this little printable to hang above my sink so that I can remember who the Bible says I am.
If you want the printable too, just click on the pic above and you can download it from Google Drive and print it from there as well.
That’s all for now folks. But I’m thinking there is more to come. We shall see.
