I recently completed another sewing project and naturally I have to share it. This little project was easy and quick and not all that planned.
It started off with a cute bubble skirt I bought at Goodwill.
Then I found some AMAZING stretchy lace floral fabric at a local fabric and vacuum store. Yes Fabric AND vacuums, sold together. Could you ask for more?!
I pinned the lace to the perimeter of the skirt so that it gathered and pleated a little bit. Then I sewed until I reached the buttons.
Then I removed the buttons. You could probably do that first. But like I said, I did not have a plan. I just went for it.
In order to know where to sew the sides together so that it matched the shape of the skirt, I laid it all together on the floor and weighed it down with some hard cover books. I pinned the fabric together in place.
I’m not sure why there is a random spoon in this shot. I could have photoshopped it out, but I kinda like it. It goes with the childrens books I used to weigh down my skirt. Its a small glimpse into my world.
Then I sewed. The lace kinda gathered onto itself and I had to pull it as I sewed to keep it from scrunching.
All that was left to do was cut to a good length.
Then I was done. I didn’t finish it with a hem because I honestly didn’t think it needed it. I was also trying to keep things simple :).
There it is!
And remember, If I can do it, you can do it better 🙂
